KAMEJIRO — Revived Garments

The world produces far more clothing than it needs, while enormous amounts of valuable garments are discarded or left unused. Based in Poland, KAMEJIRO is an upcycling project by a Japanese dyeing artist, dedicated to giving second-hand clothing a new life through dyeing, bleaching, and the reinterpretation of traditional Japanese techniques.

Located at a major crossroads of the global second-hand clothing trade, Poland offers a constant flow of garments with different histories, origins and possibilities. We carefully select pieces from this circulation and transform them into one-of-a-kind garments, combining their existing character with new colours, patterns and textures.

Drawing on Japanese shibori and indigo dyeing, we explore how traditional techniques can be reinterpreted in a contemporary context. From deep indigo blues to unexpected effects created through bleaching and colour transformation, each piece offers a new perspective on what an existing garment can become.

Every piece is individually selected and transformed by hand. No two garments are exactly alike.

Reviving, not replacing.
